This Monday, we screened A Prayer for Compassion
A large thank you to everyone who joined us for our screening of A Prayer for Compassion! It was lovely seeing all 25 you as we watched religious luminaries make the case for compassion toward all beings, and I enjoyed our rich, hour-long conversation afterward as well. All of you inspire us to keep fighting for mercy, justice, and compassion for all, no matter their species!
This Fur-Free Friday, we marched to ban fur
A massive, heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us this Fur-Free Friday as we fought to #MakeFurHistory! A special thanks to our first-time protestors, Shelbie, Emilie, and Karen; it was a pleasure to meet you, and we hope to see you at our next protest. Together, we can build enough pressure to ban the sale of fur in St. Louis and beyond over the coming years!
Last weekend, we protested Thanksgiving cruelty
We would like to thank the 12 activists who joined us for our Give Thanks to All Life Thanksgiving demonstration. A special shoutout to Jenna for designing such lovely signs, Leah for bringing the vegan flag to our event, Alexis for spending her hour before work with us, Mike for bringing one of our attendees home, and Hera for being an all-around amazing human animal! We reached an estimated 2,700 passersby, inspiring hundreds of people to make the connection between their dietary choices and animal suffering.
Last Tuesday, we celebrated our two-year anniversary.
At Project Animal Freedom, we celebrated our two-year anniversary with a meet-and-greet event at MoKaBe’s along South Grand. 11 people joined us for this celebration. We reflected on our successes over the past two years, and we dreamed of all we can go on to accomplish not only over the coming two years, but over the coming decades as we strive to build a fully vegan world by 2056.
On October 17th, we marched for reparations to African people
As President Trump stokes the raging infernos of racism, classism, and xenophobia, the time is now to help fund the black working class revolution we not only rightfully deserve, but so desperately need like never before. That is why we are a proud cosponsor of the St. Louis March for Reparations to African People in conjunction with the Uhuru Solidarity Movement, a nationwide organization dedicated to advancing the rights, lives, and wellbeing of all those oppressed by the ongoing, profoundly destructive legacy of Western imperialism, colonialism, racism, enslavement, and genocide.
Yesterday, 30 people joined us for our Dominion screening
Yesterday, we held our second-ever Monday monthly member meeting via Zoom only to attract 30 people, our largest online meeting yet. At this meeting, we screened the incredibly impactful, deeply moving documentary, Dominion, arguably the single most important vegan documentary since Cowspiracy.
Today is World Day for Farmed Animals
Today is World Day for Farmed Animals, an effort to raise awareness about the plight of animalkind that coincides with Gandhi’s birthday.
In today's factory farms, fur farms, and animal labs, billions of animals live short, miserable lives in some of the most unnatural and inhumane conditions imaginable. Mistreatment, illness, injury, and premature death are common. Those who survive often spend their last minutes in terror and pain.
But it doesn't have to be this way.
By donating to Project Animal Freedom, you can help us end their suffering.
Last weekend, we marched to close all slaughterhouses.
On Sunday, September 27th, we held our second annual March to Close All Slaughterhouses as a part of an international effort to ban all slaughterhouses once and for all. With 21 people joining us, this was our most successful march yet.
Yesterday, we protested Circus Fantastic.
Circus Fantastic has a long history of Animal Welfare Act violations. Unlike most circuses, Circus Fantastic has also continued to operate despite the COVID-19 pandemic. This company even failed to practice proper social distancing, with large groups of people being pressed together during the event.
On Wednesday, we leafleted at SLU.
We distributed roughly 300 leaflets at SLU’s busiest intersection along Grand. These leaflets discussed the environmental impacts of animal agriculture, from fueling climate change through methane and nitrous oxide emissions to driving Amazon rainforest destruction.
Six days to go before our Circus Fantastic protest!
Join us as we protest Circus Fantastic, a show that exploits elephants, tigers, and ponies. This protest is the perfect opportunity to raise awareness about the hardships nonhuman animals endure at the hands of the circus entertainment industry as well as call for human-only circuses that no longer abuse our nonhuman brothers, sisters, and xesters.
One week to go before our next member meeting!
Join us for a relaxing evening as we jump-start our online member meetings with Speciesism: The Movie on Monday, September 7th, from 7-9 p.m. CST! This is the perfect opportunity to explore the concept of speciesism with insight from leaders across the animal rights movement.
30 days to go before our next march!
Every year, over 56 billion animals are killed in slaughterhouses, often in conditions so deplorable, one can’t help but gag. That is why we are proud to join the global March to Close All Slaughterhouses this September 27th. To improve on last year’s event, we are rolling out new signs, banners, literature, and t-shirts to express our solidarity for the cause. We strongly encourage you to attend as we demand an end to slaughterhouses and the profound cruelty they entail.
Vegan world, here we come!
After a six-month hiatus in response to the COVID-19 crisis, our team is pleased to begin re-engaging with our community through community outreach events, from virtual meetings to marches, protests, and more. We hope you join us as we step boldly into the future!
Today marks a new era of animal rights victory.
Today marks the beginning of a new era of animal rights victory. From banning the sale of fur across the entire state of California to a record number of vegan protests, 2019 paved the way for an extremely productive animal rights fight moving into 2020 and beyond. May we achieve massive progress for animals more rapidly than ever before.
Last night, we celebrated Vegmas with friends and family members.
Last night, we enjoyed gobs of delicious vegan food, stimulating conversations, and time well spent with friends.
Christmas of Compassion
Today is Christmas, the long-awaited date of our inaugural #ChristmasOfCompassion campaign. But how ought we to approach Christmas given billions of animals continue to suffer and die needlessly in factory farms and slaughterhouses?
Yesterday, we received a $5,000 donation.
Around 2 p.m. yesterday, I absentmindedly checked our mailbox, covered in a fresh crop of now brown vines, only to discover a letter from Schwab. Enclosed was something truly extraordinary.
